Mark Boettcher, 60, of Augusta, passed away on Monday afternoon May 19, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Mark was born July 9, 1964, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of Ronald and Dona (Bethke) Boettcher. He spent the majority of his life in the Augusta area, where he was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Haycreek and attended the Augusta area schools.
In April of 1982, Mark was united in marriage to Cherri Buttke and together they welcomed two children, Heather and Christopher. On December 6, 1997, Mark married Sherry (Roehl) at the Haycreek Lutheran Church, where they began a new chapter of life together with the addition of their children, Jasmin and Austin.
Farming was one of Mark’s greatest passions. He especially enjoyed working on the farm of Merv and Gloria Lemmon. In addition to farming, he worked at the Neillsville Foundry until its closure. He later joined Mail Source in Augusta, which eventually became Stream Works in Fall Creek, where he remained employed until 2024, when health issues due to his earlier heart attack in 2021 required his retirement.
Mark was a man who loved the outdoors—fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and simply being outside brought him joy. In his later years, when health challenges kept him closer to home, he found comfort and entertainment in watching TV favorites like MASH, Storage Wars and shows about Alaska and great outdoor life.
Mark will be dearly missed by Sherry, his wife of 27 years; 4 children, Heather Schmidt (Josh Peterson) of Fairchild, Christopher (Kristin) Boettcher of Osseo, Jasmin Boettcher of Eau Claire, and Austin Boettcher (Bryanna Ward) of Marshfield; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Evan, and Amelia, Jace, Henli and Charlie, Everlee and soon the arrival of her baby sister; sister, Deborah (Gordon) Bratsven of Lublin; two brothers, Gregory (Tina) Boettcher of Augusta, Chad (Vicki) Boettcher of Elk Mound, mother-in-law, Donna Vine of Granton; and longtime family friend Bob Travis of Augusta. He is further survived by Sherry’s siblings, Teri Thompson, Craig (Brenda) Roehl, Jolene (Mark) Borter, Mike (Amber) Vine, Jay Vine, and Denise (Ken) Flick; along with several niece's and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Ronald in June of 2003; mother Dona in July of 2005; brother Jeff in May of 2015; father-in-law Dale Vine in June of 2015; brother-in-law Gary Roehl in May of 1985; and niece, Elizabeth Thompson in April of 2021.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held Sunday, June 8th, 2025, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Station in Augusta.
