Marian M. Watenphul
Marian M. Watenphul, 91, of Fairchild died Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Family Heritage Care Center, Black River Falls.

Marian was born on May 23, 1920, to John and Stella (Anastasia Grzesiak) Zurawski in the Town of Cleveland, Jackson County.

She had a happy childhood on her parents' farm and grew up speaking Polish. As a young girl, she worked at the Gladstone Hotel in Fairchild.
Marian was married to Otto H. Watenphul, the boy next door, on November 18, 1945, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fairchild. She always spoke fondly of the taffy pulls and neighborhood house parties, with dancing, at the Watenphul home.
After their marriage, Otto and Marian lived in Kaukauna and Eau Claire before buying a farm in the Town of Cleveland. During World War II, Marian worked at the ordinance plant in Eau Claire. She also worked at Webster's candy factory in Eau Claire.  Marian inherited her green thumb from her Grzesiak and Matysik ancestors; and she was happiest when working outdoors, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, mowing the lawn, and feeding the birds.

Marian is survived by her daughter, Nancy, Fairchild; and nephew, Robert (Gloria) Anderson, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto, on January 10, 1994; her sisters, Genevieve Miller, Loretta Zurawski, and Alice Danielson; her nephew, John Danielson; and a multitude of beloved pets.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fairchild, the Reverend Ricky Bertels officiating.  Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Fairchild Cemetery. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta
