Dean Von Haden
Dean Allen Von Haden, son of Adolph and Kathryn (Wagner) Von Haden was born March 10, 1937, on the family farm in Bridge Creek Township, just outside Augusta. 
He was a life long member of Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, where he was baptized on April 18, 1937 and confirmed on July 16, 1950. As a child Dean attended Dells Country School. He was united in marriage to Joy Elizabeth Staats on Sept. 15, 1973 at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta. The couple lived on the Von Haden farm until 1986, when they moved to their present home in Garfield Township, rural Osseo. In addition to farming, Dean was employed as a bus driver for the Augusta School District, retiring in 2008 after 25 years of driving.  

Over the years Dean enjoyed fishing, hunting, working the fields and more recently in his lawn, vegetable and flower gardens. He had numerous hunting stories with his siblings and children that he loved to recall. He also enjoyed watching most any type of sporting event and tending to his chickens and goats. Dean’s true loved and focus was for his family. He tried to attended very event his children and grandchildren were involved in and enjoyed watching them grow into the individuals that he was extremely proud of. Over the past two years Dean fought desperately for more days to share with his family. Unfortunately his body was so weak that he lost his battle early Friday morning, June 1, 2012, at his home in the loving care of his family.  

Dean will be deeply missed by Joy, his loving wife of 38 years; 2 daughter, Deinna (Manuel) Carrillo of Augusta, Katherine “Katie“ ( Jim) Charbonneau of Eau Claire; 3 grandchildren, Mareano, Gabriel and Santana Carrillo all of Augusta; 2 brothers, John Von Haden of Augusta, Jim Von Haden of Fall Creek; 4 sisters, Esther (Kenneth) Stelter of Bloomer, Mary Henke of Stanley, Barbara Anderson of Cadott, Dorothy (Donald) Perkovich of Augusta; several nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his son, Josh on Dec. 4, 2004, father Adolph on July 4, 1973, mother, Kathryn on Aug. 7, 1978, sister, Irene Collier and brother, Leonard Von Haden. .  

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, with Pastor Jonathan Wessel officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery, both in Augusta. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
