Frank Traczek
Frank Joseph Traczek, age 67 of Fairchild, Wisconsin, died April 11, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System ~ Eau Claire.
Frank was born on March 18, 1945 in Colberg, Germany to Aurelia Buchatsky and Leopold Traczek, following his family leaving Romania during the war. The family traveled by ship leaving Germany when Frank was 6 years old to arrive in Chicago, being sponsored by an uncle.
Frank grew up in Chicago, graduating from Lane Tech High School. He attended the University of Illinois, Chicago, but he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was then stationed in Germany for four years. He traveled throughout Europe. When he returned to the states, he graduated from the University of Illinois in Chicago, with a political science degree. Later, he settled in Fairchild with his parents on the farm. He was employed by Bush Bros, Armour, and Crusts Unlimited. Frank married Rozanne Kaufman on September 30, 1978 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Fairview, rural Fairchild. From that union two sons were born; Paul and James. Frank loved his sons dearly. The family lived in Alma Center and later moved to Fairchild. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends visiting, professional sports, the horse races, traveling, politics, comedies and movies. He became ill in January of 2009 and became a resident of Grand View Care Center in Blair, where he looked forward daily to the family visiting.
Franks is survived by his wife, Rozanne; two sons, Paul of Eau Claire and James of St. Paul; one sister, Hilda Pieger of Grayslake, Il; two brothers, Eugene (Maggie) Traczek of Fairchild and Alfred (Marilyn) Traczek of Bollingbrook, IL; mother-in-law, Geraldine Kaufman of Fairchild; Rozanne’s siblings, Diane (Bob) Schnell of Rothschild, Kenneth (Cheryl) Kaufman of Eau Claire, David (Dawn) Kaufman, Gary (Tammy) Kaufman, Dan Kaufman all of Fairchild, Mark (Celeste) Kaufman of Colby, Lisa Kaufman of Madison, Mary (Jeff) Schamberger of Hallie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 17, 1983, his mother on Oct. 9, 1996 and father-in-law, Charles Kaufman on June 20, 2005.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fairview, rural Fairchild, with Father Varkey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Friday, April 13, 2012 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A visitation will also be held at the church on Saturday, starting noon.
