Everette Stensen
Everette H. Stensen, 80, of rural Augusta, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, while helping at his son’s farm in rural Augusta. 

Everette Harold Stensen, son of Iner and Nina (Arneson) Stensen, was born Aug. 22, 1932 in Goetz Township, Chippewa County. In 1937 his family moved to Otter Creek Township, rural Augusta, where he attended Scott’s Valley Country School and graduated from Augusta High School in 1951. Everette served in the United States Marines from 1953 until 1956, serving in Korea.  

He was united in marriage to Eileen Haskins on Oct. 23, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Augusta. The first year of their marriage they lived in North Carolina. After Everette’s discharge they returned to Augusta and farmed family farms in Otter Creek Township, until the early 1990’s when they moved to their present home on Lake Eau Claire. While in Otter Creek Township, Everette had served as a Town Supervisor and was currently serving as 2nd. Supervisor for Bridge Creek Township. Everette represented Bridge Creek on the Board of Directors of the Augusta-Bridge Creek Volunteer Fire Department and was also a member and Quarter Master of the Augusta V.F.W. Everette truly enjoyed farming but also spent many enjoyable hours with family and friends on fishing trips locally and in Canada, , and hunting out West and in Wisconsin. Everette and Eileen traveled with family to Alaska in the summer of 1977, and returned to Alaska in 1991, with Don and Dorothy Gerike. They thoroughly enjoyed those 2 summers, the time spent hunting, fishing and sightseeing. Over the years Everette and Eileen had also enjoyed square dancing and snowmobiling with friends in the Augusta area.  

Everette is survived by Eileen, his wife of nearly 59 years; 2 daughters, Linda and Glenn Fremstad, Beverly Stensen and Mike Miller all of Osseo; 3 sons, David and Debbie Stensen, Ronald and Karen Stensen all of Osseo, James and Wendy Stensen of Augusta; 13 grandchildren, Serena Larson, Tina Holmen, Brook Weiss, Taina and Tanner Stensen, Brodie Standley, Austin, Kerry, Evan and Kyle Stensen, Katrina, Ethan and Karlee Kittelson; great granddaughter, Kaia Weiss; brother, Iner Jr. and Joan Stensen of Augusta; 2 sisters, Delores and Bob Gabler of Augusta, Jane and Lloyd Johnson of Osseo; Eileen’s sister, Roberta and Edward Griffth of West Allis, WI; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Everette was preceded in death by his parents, Iner and Nina, brother, Paul Stensen, granddaughter, Melissa Peterson, sister-in-law, Virginia Stensen and special uncle, Clarence Ness.  

Funeral services will be held Wed. Sept. 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Lewis Thompson officiating. Burial with military rites will be held in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
