Gordon Schiefelbein
Gordon W. Schiefelbein, 74, of Fall Creek, passed away with his family at his side on Saturday evening, August 4, 2012, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Gordon Wayne Schiefelbein, son of Martin and Deloris (Jungerberg) Schiefelbein was born Jan. 3, 1938 in Eau Claire. He was raised in Lincoln Township, rural Fall Creek, where he attended Fall Creek Valley Country School and graduated from Fall Creek High School in 1956. After graduation he attended college before enlisting in the United States Army, serving in the state of Washington from June of 1958 until June of 1960. After his honorable discharge he returned to Fall Creek, where he was united in marriage to Janet Strauch on Sept. 17, 1960, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Eau Claire, moving back to rural Fall Creek in 1977. In 2008, Gordon and Janet moved into the village of Fall Creek. He entered the Fall Creek Valley Care Center in 2009, due to debilitating health. For over 30 years, Gordon had been employed by N.S.P. and then for Excel Energy, working as an electrician in the maintenance department at various hydro plants and substations in northern Wisconsin. He retired in 1994.

Gordon enjoyed the Wisconsin outdoors, whether it was hunting turkey and deer or fishing the fresh waters, on the ice covered lakes or trying his luck with salmon. He was also fond of the time spent on woodworking projects, and tending to his vegetable and flower gardens, and his large blueberry and raspberry patches.

He will be deeply missed by Janet, his wife of 51 years; 2 daughters, Lisa (Mike) Sell of Fall Creek, Lori Dehnke of Green Bay; 4 granddaughters, Katelyn Sell (Curtis Rye), Jennifer Sell, Rachel Sell and Megan Dehnke; 3 great grandchildren, Tyler, Caleb and Melissa Rye; brother, Harvey and Helen Schiefelbein of Augusta; and sister, Sheila Thompson of Pigeon Falls. He was preceded in death by his mother Deloris in 1969, father Martin in 2002, and step mother Bernice in 2010.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek, with Pastor Larry Borgelt officiating. Burial will be in the Fall Creek Trinity Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
