Betty H. Schalinske
Betty H. Schalinske, 81, of rural Eau Claire, passed away with her family at her side on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire .
Betty, daughter of Gordon and Norma (Schultz) Plankey was born May 29, 1930 in Northern Wisconsin.
As a child she moved to Durand where she graduated from high school. She married George C. Schalinske on Dec. 29, 1948 at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Eau Claire. The couple lived all their married life in Seymour Township, where she raised her children and was a foster mother for over 40 years. Through the years she also enjoyed playing Bingo, trout fishing, hunting with her metal detector, knitting and making many Cabbage Patch Dolls for family and friends .
She will be deeply missed by George, her husband of 63 years, 2 sons, George Jr. (Connie) Schalinske of St. Joseph’s, IN, Paul (Helen) Schalinske of Eau Claire; 4 daughters, Sue (Jeff) Smigla of Elk Mound, Mary (Lloyd) Peterson of Cadott, Norma (Mike) Dehnke of Fall Creek, Renee (Chris) Rudawski of Conover; 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Thomas and siblings, Don Plankey and Phyllis Richardson.
Services will be held Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial at a later date in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery, Seymour Township. Friends may call Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
