John Knuth
John A. Knuth, 87, of rural Augusta, passed away Saturday evening, June 9, 2012 at the Dove Healthcare Center in Eau Claire. 

John Arnold Knuth, son of William and Wilhelmina (Bann) Knuth, was born April 8, 1925 on the Knuth family farm in Bridge Creek Township, rural Augusta. He was baptized, confirmed and a life long member of Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta. As a child he attended Dells Country School. Before John took over operating the family farm, he traveled to his relatives in South Dakota to work the harvest. He marred Emogene Grams on June 6, 1947, and to this union his children, Dennis and Sherri were born. He was later united in marriage to Ardith Brown Hilmanowski on Sept. 15, 1978 at Grace Lutheran Church.  

The couple lived on the Knuth farm until retiring and moving to their present home on Highway 27 and County V in 1985. . Over the years John had enjoyed hunting, fishing and after retiring spent many enjoyable hours playing cards and pool at the Augusta Community Center. John and Ardith especially enjoyed traveling, having visited most of the states, Mexico and Canada. They had spent 2 months in Alaska and several times a year, with a group of friends they went hunting and fishing in Canada. He also loved spending time with his immediate and extended family.  

He will be dearly missed by his wife Ardith, a resident of the Dove Healthcare Center-West; son, Dennis Knuth of New York City; daughter, Sherri (Gary) Saxe of Durand; 3 step-children, LeaAnn Berry and Tami (Cliff) Wampole all of Augusta, Gerald (Tammy) Hilmanowski of Arcadia; 2 grandsons, Nathan (Kelly) Moore, Justin (Julia) Moore; 3 great grandchildren, Kelsey Bundy, Jared and Colin Moore; 10 step-grandchildren, Chris (Jenny) Berry, Donna (Loren) Lone, Mike (Jackie) Berry, Jessica (Samuel) Urriola, Jason (Tara) Hilmanowski, Mandy and Henry Hilmanowski, Josh Wampole, Kelli Saxe and Kaydi (Ed) Fattmann; and several step great grandchildren. 
 

John was preceded in death by his mother on May 17, 1942, father on Oct. 29, 1955, and also by his siblings, Adela Sperber, Margaret Sperber, Esther Moen, Agnes Matz and Albert, Ervin and Herbert Knuth.  

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, with Pastor Wessel officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
