Grace Ives
Grace A. Ives, 95, of the Augusta Area Nursing Home, , passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at the home. 

Grace Alma Ives, daughter of Gustave and Alma (Reetz) Strauch was born Nov. 14, 1917 in Otter Creek Township, Eau Claire County. . She was united in marriage to Carl Harold Ives on Nov. 24, 1935 in Fall Creek. The couple farmed all their married life in Otter Creek, rural Osseo. In addition to helping on the farm, Grace began her nurse’s aid career when the Osseo Nursing Home opened. She had also worked in housekeeping at Howard Johnson Motel in Eau Claire, before eventually returning to the nursing home to work. In her 70’s she started employment with McDonald’s Restaurant in Osseo, where she worded over 10 years, retiring at the age of 88. Throughout the years she had enjoyed crocheting, babysitting the grandchildren, working on crafts and traveling with family. With her children she was able to visit many of the states. After her husband, Carl passed away on March 2, 1979, Grace stayed on the family farm until entering the Augusta Area Nursing Home in Nov. of 2009. 

Grace will be dearly missed by her daughter, Barbara (Robert) Schumacher of Eau Claire; 5 sons, Dale Ives, Steve (Carol) Ives, Mark Ives all of Osseo, Mike (Eldora) Ives of Whitehall, Kenny (Marilyn) Ives of Fall Creek; daughter-in-law, Jeanette Ives of Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by her sister, Lorena Krahulec, son, Gary Ives, granddaughter, Melissa Ives-Stanford, daughter-in-law, Susan Ives and great grandson, Matthew Dale Graff. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Foster, with Pastor Dennis Voss officiating. Friends may call 2 hours prior to services Monday at the church. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
