Donald Grams
Donald Grams, 87, of 407 Park Street, Augusta, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012, at his home in the loving care of his family and St. Joseph’s Hospice. 

Donald D. Grams, son of Emil and Reta (Zank) Grams, was born April 25, 1927. He was raised in Ludington Township, rural Augusta, where he attended Pine View Country School. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1945. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines and served around the world on multiple ships for the next 10 years. When he was discharged he returned to Augusta, where he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Scott on Aug. 26, 1955 at Grace Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Eau Claire, Minneapolis, and Madison, before returning with their family to Augusta in 1974. Don started his career selling insurance and then working for Beneficial Finance Company of Madison. While in Madison, he began working in the cement business, selling for Marquette Cement. He finished his career as a distributor of cement additives, selling for several companies and eventually owning and operating Don Grams Inc. When he retired in 2003, his son Scott took over his territory. In 2006, Don and Rose moved from their rural Augusta home into the city of Augusta. Don and Rose loved sporting events.  

They enjoyed following the Green Bay Packers, other professional sport teams, college, and the local high school teams. He was an avid fan of the Augusta Athletics baseball team, he and Rose where even honored by the team for their faithful attendance. They also enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends, especially to Hayward and Canada. He looked forward to attending work related conventions and trips to the local casinos. Don and Rose loved to dance and had met dancing at Fournier’s Ball Room in Eau Claire. In recent years he especially enjoyed his time spent with the grandchildren and his two great granddaughters. Don was a member of the Augusta American Legion Post # 291.  

He will be deeply missed by his 2 sons, Ken (Verna) Grams of rural Fairchild, Scott (Mona) Grams of Pigeon Falls; daughter, Lisa (Kim,“Chet�) Krueger of Augusta; 5 grandchildren, Jake (Jessica ) Krueger of Augusta, Kasey Grams of Minneapolis, Willie and Leah Grams both of Menomonie, Amanda (Charles) Horstman of Rockland; 2 great granddaughters, Brianna and Brooklyn Krueger of Augusta; Don’s siblings, Orville (Ollie) Grams of El Centro, CA, Doris Madden of Los Angeles, CA, Norma (Robert) Wheeler, Jeanette Ayers, Emogene Knuth, Elvera (Don) Biesecker all of Eau Claire and their families; sister-in-law, Elaine Scott of Augusta.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rose on April 27, 2011, brother, Gordon and sisters, Delores and Donna Dean.  

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Augusta, with Pastor Tim Voigts officiating.  

Burial with military rites will be held in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.Â
