Donald Erdman
Donald W. Erdman, 90, of rural Augusta, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls, while under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Donald Walter Erdman, son of Arthur and Clara (Lahn) Erdman, was born October 10, 1921, in rural Augusta. He was a life long member of Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, where he was baptized on Nov. 6, 1921, and confirmed on May 9, 1937.
He attended Diamond Valley Country School and graduated from Augusta High School in 1939.
Donald was united in marriage to Alice Emilie Elbert, on June 6, 1948, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Bears Grass, rural Augusta. . The couple farmed all their married life just east of Augusta in Bridge Creek Township. Don truly enjoyed farming, tending to the animals, planting and harvesting the crops, but he also took pride in his vegetable gardens.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Marie Nelson of rural Strum; son, Dale and Geraldine Erdman of Augusta; 3 grandchildren , Danielle (Jeremiah) Strauss of Neillsville, Brooke (Travis) Behling, Steven ( Heather) Erdman all of Augusta; 3 great granddaughters, Aubrey and Callie Behling, Danica Strauss; and 2 week old great grandson, Hayden Erdman; 2 sisters, Ruth Zank of Eau Claire, Gail Bremel of St. Cloud, MN; 2 sisters-in-law, Phyllis Erdman of Eau Claire, Ruth (Earl) Heck of Mondovi; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice on April 18, 2011, daughter, Jane Erdman on Dec. 9, 1980, infant sister, Norma Erdman, sister, Helene Barber , brothers, Warren and Alvin Erdman, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Bernard Barber, Ira Zank, Herbert Bremel , and Jane Erdman.
