Nita Brenn
Nita A. Brenn, 98, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away early Friday morning, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Fall Creek Valley Care Center where she had been a resident since April of 2009.
Nita Amanda Brenn, daughter of Herman and Martha (Luedtke) Hagedorn, was born Oct. 11, 1914 in Ludington Township, Eau Claire County. As a child she attended White Country School. She was united in marriage to Vern Miller in June of 1934 in Ludington. The couple lived all their married life in Ludington, where they raised their daughter. She later married Robert Brenn, the two of them made their home in Eau Claire. Robert passed away in 1975. Nita had worked as a cook at Mount Washington Care Center, before retiring in the late 1970’s. In the 1980’s she returned back to the work force as a cook in the Davies Center at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. Nita always enjoyed cooking and baking, but her favorite pastime was crocheting. Over the years she had crocheted many beautiful afghans and doilies that she gave to family and friends. In her late 80’s she was still able to mow her lawn, blow her own snow and enjoy the companionship of her dog. It wasn’t until the age of 94, that due to her unsteadiness on her feet she entered the Fall Creek Valley Care Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Gust of Fall Creek; sister, Lorena Meuli of Stanley; several nieces, nephews and their families.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Vernice Marten ,
Corrine Jungerberg, Archie Hagedorn and son-in-law, Irvin Gust.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Joanne Sorenson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends may call Wednesday from noon until time of services at the funeral home.
