Darlene J. Berlin, 77, formerly of Fairchild, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at the Augusta Area Nursing Home in the loving comfort of her family.
Darlene Joyce was born June 21, 1935, in Woodstock, IL, daughter of Everett and Isabelle (Thiede) Thomas. She was raised in Woodstock, where she was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. She graduated from Woodstock Community High School in 1953. She was united in marriage toThomas Berlin on Nov. 1, 1955 in Corinth, Mississippi. The couple lived in the Woodstock and Marengo area of Illinois, moving to Augusta in 1975, and then to Fairchild in 1989. Darlene had been a resident at the nursing home since April of 2010. Over the years she had worked as a secretary and cashier but mostly as a stay at home mom. Darlene fought a long battle with her illness but when she had felt better she enjoyed sewing, embroidery, attending auctions, yard sales and always loved singing.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, LuAnne Cantu and Linda Hagedorn both of Osseo, Lisa and Kenneth Bohl of Fairchild; son, Lannie and Shirley Berlin of Rice Lake; brother, Mick (Carole) Thomas of South Carolina; 13 grandchildren, Michael Cantu, Jennifer Berna, Nicholas Cantu, Aaron Reetz, Corey Lynn Price, Billi Jo (Dan) Waugh, Kendra (Jason) Weidner, Jonathon Bohl, Jeremiah Hagedorn, Ashley Walker, Cooper Berlin, Christine Berlin, Courtney Berlin, 9 great grandchildren and father of her children, Thomas Berlin of Fairchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and husband, Sandra and George Rockwood and son-in-law, Jerry Hagedorn.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. Friends may call before services on Thursday starting at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials could be given to St. Joseph’s Hospice in Chippewa Falls.
The family would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the Augusta Area Nursing Home and their employees; a special thanks to Pastor Dale Hazard and to St. Joseph’s Hospice of Chippewa Falls, and of course our team of girls, Billi, Diane, Steph, Mary Ann, Kathy and Karen. The show of compassion and excellent care given to our mom, with all the little extras meant the world to her and us. We Love You All.
