Dorothy Looker
Dorothy Elizabeth (Schmidt) Looker, daughter of Carl and Esther (Johnston) Schmidt was born August 23, 1928, in Beloit, WI.

Dorothy's family moved to the rural Augusta area in 1935 and during her childhood attended Pride Country School and Augusta High School.

On July 9, 1948, Dorothy was united in marriage to Thomas Looker at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Augusta. Together they celebrated 64 years of marriage before Tom passed away on February 8, 2013. The couple had lived most of their life in the Augusta and Osseo area before moving to Black River Falls in September of 2012.

Over the years Dorothy had worked in Augusta at the Nu Cafe for Richard Pettis, for many years in the fabric department at Woolworth’s in London Square Mall in Eau Claire, and after moving to Black River Falls she was employed as a greeter at Walmart.

If you knew Dorothy you were well aware of her fondness for sewing, as she was a gifted seamstress and over the years made beautiful quilts for family and friends. When her girls were small she also enjoyed sewing baby and Barbie doll clothes. In addition to sewing, she did spend hours knitting, but her real passion was sewing. She also enjoyed her involvement with the Red Hat Society in the different communities she had lived in.

Due to failing health Dorothy had been a resident of Pine View Care Center in Black River Falls for the past 3 years. It was in the memory unit of the nursing home that she passed away peacefully in hospice care on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, having reached the age of 97 years, 7 months and 29 days.

Dorothy is survived by her 2 sons, Tom Jr, (Terri) Looker of Cross Plains, TN, Timothy Looker of Gaylord, MI; 2 daughters, Paulette Rud of Eau Claire, Peggy (Joe) Thomley of Black River Falls; 17 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Tom, she was also preceded in death by her father Carl in 1967; mother Esther in 1997; brothers, Willard, William, Donald, Carl and Robert Schmidt; and sister Ruth Erdman.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Pine View Care Center for the wonderful care and friendship shown to her while she was a part of their family. Also to St. Croix Hospice-Black River Falls for providing Dorothy with the extra care needed during this stage of her life.

As requested by Dorothy, there will be no public services.
