Sandra Rose Buchholz, 75, passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family. Sandy was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother.
Baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, she remained a faithful member her entire life. She attended Altoona High School, graduating in 1969, and subsequently attended beauty school. On May 1, 1971, she married the love of her life, Gary Buchholz, at St. Matthew’s. Together, they built a life rooted in hard work, faith, and unconditional love. Sandy served as a Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor for over 30 years, dedicated to her work at both Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona and Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home.
Sandy’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived with a strength, grace, and steady conviction that carried her and her family through both joy and hardship. She led by example, showing those around her the value of hard work, compassion, and humor. She will be remembered for her unwavering bravery and a contagious laughter that will continue through her family for generations to come.
Sandy is lovingly survived by her husband, Gary Buchholz; her children, Tammy (Troy) Redd, Christy (Edward) Scruggs, Troy (Sarah) Buchholz, and Ashley (Stacey) Hinke; and her cherished grandchildren, Tayler Buchholz, Tianna (Jaron) Silvernail, Gary Redd, Andy Redd, Payton Scruggs, Jade Smith, Sandra Hinke, Austin Hinke, Jace Hinke, and Samantha Hinke. She is further survived by her great-grandchild, Valerie Silvernail; her brothers, Ricky Hagedorn and Timothy (Grace) Hagedorn; and her aunt, Sharon Hagedorn.
She was welcomed into eternal life by her grandparents, Richard and Peety Hagedorn; her parents, Gary and Norma Hagedorn; her brother, Jimmy Allen Hagedorn; her uncle, Gerald Hagedorn; and her parents-in-law, Clarence and Betty Buchholz.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hartland Hospice, especially Missy Teschler, RN, who provided amazing care for which they are eternally grateful.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with burial in Trinity Cemetery in Fall Creek. Friends may call 2 hours before services starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. A luncheon will served at the church following the service.
