LaMoine “Butch” L. Behlke, 77, of Augusta, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, at his home in the loving care of family, friends and St. Croix Hospice.
LaMoine, son of Louis and Dona (Moen) Behlke was born April 29, 1948. He was raised in the Ludington Township where he attended country school and was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He went on to graduate from Fall Creek High School.
In September of 1983, LaMoine was united in marriage to Donna (Peterson) Edwards-Street and with this marriage he was welcomed into her large & beautiful extended family. The couple made their home in the Fairchild and Augusta areas surrounded by family. After Donna passed away on April 5, 2016, he moved to his current apartment in Augusta, where he gained his beloved friends and caregivers, Sarah & Andrew, who became “family”.
Throughout his working life, LaMoine drove truck for Berry Trucking of Augusta and several other companies. He also drove for Greyhound Bus Lines, traveling throughout the United States. During those years, he met many interesting people and gathered countless memories, which he enjoyed sharing (& repeating) in conversation. For a time, he also drove school bus for the Augusta School District.
LaMoine enjoyed hunting and fishing in Wisconsin, and in later years he looked forward to fishing at the pond in Fairchild. In Augusta, he could often be found sitting outside layered in warm clothes at any given time of the year and sitting beside a warm fire, always offering a friendly greeting to those who passed by. LaMoine loved to have visitors & would often tell them “you made my day, thank you for visiting & thinking of me”.
LaMoine will be remembered as a friendly gentleman who truly enjoyed visiting and spending time with others, especially Donna’s children, Debbie Hagen, Denice Edwards, Leann (Mitch) Balliett, all of Augusta; Sheila (Jerome) LePage of Withee, Rodney (Staci Edwards) Street of Fairchild; several grand and great grandchildren; brothers, David Behlke of Altoona, Gary (Patti) Behlke of Eau Claire, Darrell Behlke of Cadott; sisters, Kathleen (Richard) Thurman of Oklahoma City, OK, Patricia Vollbrecht of Fall Creek, Angela (Bill) Northcott of Eleva; brothers-in-law, John D’Lamatter of Fall Creek, Stan Barnard of Chippewa Falls; cherished friends Sarah (Nick) and Andrew; several nieces, nephews, their families, as well as other relatives.
LaMoine was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Behlke and Dona Behlke-Zempel; wife Donna Behlke; siblings, Bruce Behlke, Maxine Maland, Rhonda D’Lamatter and Lynette Barnard; brother-in-law Russel Vollbrecht; sister-in-law Charlotte Behlke; step-children, Gerald “Jerry” Edwards, Marilyn Noggle and Cindy Edwards, son-in-law James “Wolfy” Wolfgang.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stone Barn across from the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. Burial will be later in the spring in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
