Doug Solie
Douglas Dale Solie, 50, of rural Humbird, formerly of Augusta, passed away Monday afternoon, September 29, 2025, at his home after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving companion Mary Melcher and his family, and also comforted by the compassionate care of St. Croix Hospice of Marshfield.

Doug was born on June 20, 1975, in Eau Claire, to Dale and Mavis (Welke) Solie. He was raised on the family farm on County Road R outside of Augusta until 1991, when the family moved just north of town and gave up farming. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, attended Augusta Elementary School and graduated from Augusta High School in 1993.

Following graduation, Doug began a lifelong career as a truck driver. Over the years he drove for Dale Randall Livestock of Augusta, River City Transport and UPS both out of Eau Claire, and was driving for Peterbilt of Eau Claire when his illness forced him to retire.

Doug was an outdoorsman at heart. He enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing, often taking trips with family and friends, and he also enjoyed following a variety of sports. Time spent with family and friends and in the outdoors was when he was happiest, especially when shared with those he loved.

Doug will be dearly missed by his loving companion of 20 years, Mary Melcher; his daughter Sadie Solie of Osseo; and his son Colton ( Sasha ) Solie of Eau Claire. He is further survived by his mother Mavis Solie of Augusta; sister, Melissa (Tim) Holmes of Boyd; brother, Daniel (Annie) Solie of Augusta; uncles and aunts, Dean Solie and Janice Solie both of Augusta; 4 granddaughters, Delainey, Briar, Nala-Di and Beatrice; several nieces, nephews and the entire group of extended family and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his father Dale on Oct. 25, 2014; brother Mitchell on Oct. 16, 2024; and grandparents, Albert and Frieda Welke and Lyle and Sadie Solie.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Augusta Lions Hall, with graveside services on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Fairview road, rural Fairchild.
