Gary Moschkau
Gary Allen Moschkau, 78, of Whitehall, formerly of the Foster and Eau Claire areas, passed away Thursday morning, July 3, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.

Gary was born on March 14, 1947, in the Rice Lake area of Wisconsin, the son of Edward Moschkau and Edith (Hulbert) Moschkau. During the first 18 years of his life, he lived in Rice Lake, Spring Lake Park, Minnesota, and Eau Claire.

On August 14, 1971, Gary was united in marriage to Pat Knuth at Lake Street Methodist Church in Eau Claire. The couple spent their married life in Eau Claire County, with the last 15 years in the Foster area, before moving to Whitehall in September 2022.

Gary worked most of his life in general construction in both the Eau Claire and Twin Cities areas. After retirement from construction, he worked alongside auctioneer Jerry Andrews, assisting in various roles. In his later years, he enjoyed transporting members of the local Amish community and also delivering eggs for them.

He enjoyed watching football, particularly the Packers. In his younger years he loved riding his motorcycle. Gary and Pat cherished their time on their farm in Foster, where they enjoyed the peace of nature. Though known for a rough exterior and perhaps a bit grumpy, Gary had a warm heart and deeply valued time spent with both his and Pat’s families.

Gary will be remembered and dearly missed by his brothers, Chuck (Patricia) Moschkau of New Auburn, Glen (Peggy) Moschkau of Eau Claire, and Duane Moschkau of Fall Creek; stepson Jeff Knuth of Fairchild; stepdaughter, Tammy (Gary) Baxter of Eau Claire; and several Glenna step-siblings. He is also survived by step-grandchildren: Thomas and Cody Knuth, Emmi (Sawyer) Strzok, Zach (Stacey) Baxter, and Corisa (Josh) Flynn; along with four step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his life companion of 52 years, Patricia Moschkau, his mother Edith and stepfather Milton (Mike) Glenna; his father Edward Moschkau, brothers,  Jim, Rick, and Doug Moschkau; sisters, Janet and Joanne Moschkau; and one step-great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
