Gary Hudson
Gary Dennis Hudson, age 71, of rural Fall Creek, life long resident of Ludington Township, passed away peacefully at his home on June 12, 2025, after a short illness, in the loving care of his family and St. Croix Hospice.

Gary was born on March 12, 1954, to Herbert and Lillian (Jaenke) Hudson. He attended the White Country School and Augusta Elementary School, graduating from Augusta High School in 1972.

Gary was raised on the Hudson family farm, which was established in 1865, and it remained a central part of his life. After high school, Gary held several jobs, working at Bush Brothers, Walters Building, Empire Gas, and Berlin Concrete, before going to work at Indian Head Construction. Even while employed full-time, Gary never left the farm—balancing both responsibilities until back issues eventually led him to sell his milk cattle and retire from full-time farming in 2007.

Still, Gary’s love for the land never faded. He remained active in helping his son maintain the family farm, proud to see the tradition continue into another generation.

In recent years, Gary’s greatest joy and the light of his life was his grandson, Austin. Gary was a wonderful grandpa who took great pride in trying to instill his values in Austin—teaching him the importance of hard work and sharing the ways of farm life. Whether they were playing ball, riding the tractor, or just spending time together, Gary treasured every moment he had with his grandson.

In quieter times at home, Gary enjoyed watching westerns with his family, and in his younger years, he looked forward to the annual deer hunt. But above all, farming was his true calling. It was not just his work—it was his way of life. The land, the livestock, and the rhythm of the seasons were deeply woven into who he was.

Gary was a devoted husband to Debbie (Zhe) Hudson, who he shared 36 years of marriage. He was a loving father to his son Dennis Hudson (Rose) of Fall Creek, and daughter Jeanne (Dustin) Reeves of Fall Creek; and adored by his grandson Austin Zillmer. He is further survived by his 4 sisters, Dorothy (Duane) Dehnke of Eau Claire, Karen (Jeff) Stensen of Augusta, Joan Boyea of Cadott, and Marlene (Kelly)Tessmer of Eau Claire; several nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert David and Lillian Hudson; brother Donald Hudson; sister and brother-in-law Vivian and Arnold Huff, brother-in-law Dan Boyea, niece Jill Marie Huff; and life time friend Gerald Starck.

At Gary’s request no public service is being planned.
