Joy Von Haden
Joy Elizabeth (Staats) Von Haden, 71, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday evening, April 5, 2024, at Grace Willowbrook Assisted Living in Eau Claire.

Joy was born to Warren and Alverta “Jean” (Bitney) Staats on March 4, 1953, in New Market, England. Being that her dad was in the military they traveled extensively before settling in Augusta, WI. She attended junior and senior high in Augusta, graduating with the Augusta High School class of 1971. Upon graduating she started working at the Augusta Area Nursing Home where she served as Director of the Food Service Department, retiring after 42 years.

Joy was united in marriage to Dean Von Haden on September 15, 1973, and they raised their 3 children on the family farm in rural Augusta and later moved to rural Osseo. Throughout her life she worked full time and many part time jobs. She enjoyed cooking and providing for her family. She always loved making homemade items for people, whether it be crocheting, painting, embroidering, also playing cards with friends, attending many social groups, but most of all she enjoyed sewing, quilting and dominoes.

Joy is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Deinna and Manuel Carrillo and Katie Charbonneau; 5 grandchildren who she loved very much, Mareano, Gabriel, Santana, Amalia and Mateo Carrillo. She is further survived by her sister Kris Meredith; sisters-in-law, Barb Anderson, Dorothy Perkovich; brother-in-law Jim Von Haden; additional family and many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by Dean Allen Von Haden, her loving husband of 39 years who passed away in 2012; son Joshua David Von Haden in 2004; parents, Warren and Jean; brothers, Harvey “David” Meredith and Richard “Rick” Staats; father and mother-in-law, Adolf and Kathryn Von Haden; and also by Dean’s siblings.

Throughout her life Joy was blessed to have had many true and long lasting friendships. Too numerous to mention by name, the family would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for all the many ways in which you helped her and brought her much happiness. We would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for the care they provided during her final illness.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home with burial in the East Lawn Cemetery, both in Augusta. Friends may call Sunday, May 5th, starting at noon and until time of services.
Following the service and burial, a light lunch will be held at the Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Station located at 745 Industrial Drive in Augusta. If you are unable to attend the service, please still feel welcome to meet with the family at the fire station.
