Gene Franson
Gene Ardell Franson 90,of Eau Claire, passed away early Monday morning, April 22,2024 at Hayward Health Services with his beloved family by his side. Due to failing health, he had been a resident of the nursing home since February of this year.
Gene was born March 17, 1934 to Thomas and Lillian (Nelson) Franson in Eleva WI. He grew up in Eleva on the home farm along with his 11 siblings, where he attended Eleva Schools. He was baptized and confirmed at Eleva Lutheran Church.
He married the love of his life Jean Ann Zhe on March 27, 1954. They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Together they raised three sons in the Eau Claire area. Gene was employed by the Eau Claire Mattress/Happy Sleeper Mattress. He retired after 42 years in 1996.
He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, but most of all spending time with family. Gene always had a smile on his face and everyone loved his infectious laughter.
He is survived by his wife Jean Ann, His sons Danny (Nancy) Hayward WI, Wayne (Tammy) Eau Claire WI. 4 Grandsons, Jon (Bethany) , Jim (Heather) , Jeff (Mariah) ,& Thomas. 16 Great Grandchildren. His siblings LaVerne (Liz), Gordon (Maxine), Ronald (Charlotte), Merlin, Dennis (Anita), Sandra Wathke, Mary (Bill)Beaudette, Karen Peterson, & Mike. Also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents,his son Jerry, sisters Alverda Jacobson, & Rhonda Franson.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm and Friday from 10 to 11 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.
Funeral Services will be held Friday April 26 at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Jeff Carlson officiating.
Internment will follow the luncheon at the church.
