In 1976, following his graduation from Ashland High School he enlisted in the United Stares Navy. While in the navy he was station on the USS Kitty Hawk and USS Prairie and during his deployment was aboard ship and positioned in water near Iran during the Iran Crisis in 1979.

After his honorable discharge he returned to Wisconsin and eventually settled in the Eau Claire area, starting with employment at Menards. Giving of his time to others was important but more importantly it was giving time to his family. Early in the life of his nephews their father past away, Jim was not only there to help his sister but to also fill the role of father as best he could to his nephews and nieces that bond remained strong. In Gurney, WI, he had land with a rustic cabin that he spent many fun filled days not only with the Beesley /Schultz family but with Anita’s as well. Here they practiced their hunting and fishing skills, not often with huge success but more importantly came home with fond memories that will last a life time.

Jim also loved animals and over the years provided a home to a wide array of animals and birds, such as pheasants, ducks, a pot belly pig and many American Eskimo dogs, several that were rescue dogs.

Due to his health, for the past 3 years Jim wasn’t able to do the things he wanted to but will be remembered for his happy go lucky outlook on life by Anita his loving wife of 32 years; 2 step children that he loved as his own,
Chris (Corey) Price of Foster, Ashley (Lance) Wolfe of Augusta; 10 grandchildren, Austin Wolfe(Phallen Olsen) , Mersaydez Wolfe (Briar Hase) Danica Wolfe (Aidan Casper), Bella, Kinsley, Rowen and Bronson Wolfe, Wyatt, Monica and Gwen Price; brother, Billy (Cheryl) Beesley of Ashland; 2 sisters, Gloria Watson of Chicago, Kathi Beesley of Ashland; brother-in-law, Steve (Kay) Goss of Augusta; nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Wess) Loften, Michael Schultz, James (Christina) Schultz, Scott (Jessica) Schultz, Melissa Schultz (Jared), Bobby (Antoinette) Watson, Jesse (April) Beesley, Billie Jo (Allan) Miller, Nathan (Courtney) Goss, Alicia (Derek) Bolt and their families.
