Donald H Aldrich, 92, of Fall Creek, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at Heritage Court in Eau Claire after a short stay there.

Donald Henry Aldrich was born August 16, 1931, in Ludington Township in Eau Claire County, to Roy and Mary (Heller) Aldrich. He attended Oakridge Country School and was Baptized and Confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. Don served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954, with an additional 7 years with the Army Reserves. Due to his injuries while in Korea, he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the DAV. After his honorable discharge, he returned home. He was united in marriage to Arlene Mueller on February 5, 1955, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Augusta. The couple briefly lived in Eau Claire before moving to Fall Creek in 1956. In 1963, they moved to the home they built in Fall Creek. Don worked for nearly 40 years as the boiler room engineer for Sterling Pulp and Paper Mill, which became Brown-Pope and Talbot and eventually part of the Cascade Tissue Group.

Don was a volunteer with the Fall Creek Fire department from 4/1/1963-4/5/1993. He loved the outdoors and took great joy in fishing and hunting. His favorite pastime, though, was cutting, splitting, and meticulously stacking wood. For many years, he could be found in the woods during most daylight hours from Spring to Fall.

Don will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Arlene of Fall Creek, Children: Jeffrey Aldrich, Sherie (Jeffrey) Rudy, Dale (Joyce) Aldrich, and Timothy Aldrich. Grandchildren: Amelia (Curtis) Baskin, Aaron (Abigail) Aldrich, Andrew (Jill) Aldrich, Mark (Kim) Rudy, Whitney (Tyler) Berre, Alex Aldrich, Cole (Chiara) Aldrich, Kylie (Mike) Schmit, and Brooke Aldrich, as well as 18 great-grandchildren.
