Alvin Zillmer
Alvin A. Zillmer, “Archie”, 90, of Osseo, passed away early Thursday morning, May 11,2023, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Osseo, WI.

Alvin Albert Zillmer was born in Augusta, WI, on November 29, 1932, to Albert and Amanda (Knuth) Zillmer. Al with his younger brother Elmer was raised in Augusta, where he was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, attended school and graduated from Augusta High School in 1950. Following his graduation he moved to the Milwaukee area where he started at Briggs and Stratton Manufacturing, which developed into 34 years of employment with the company.

Al was united in marriage to Marion Johnson of Osseo on Nov.13, 1956, at the Osseo Ev. Lutheran Church. The couple lived 30 years in the Milwaukee area where they raised their 3 sons, living in the communities of Wauwatosa, Milwaukee and Brookfield. In 1986 when Al retired, he and Marion moved to their home on Lake Eau Claire, rural Augusta. Their final move was to Osseo in 1991, and after Marion passed away on July 23, 2016, Al continued to live in the home that they had shared together.
While in the Milwaukee area, Al enjoyed playing on softball leagues and was still playing competitively into his 50’s. After retiring he had more time to enjoy some of his other favorite pastimes; fishing on the lake, golfing with Marion, watching the Packers and the Wisconsin Badger Teams and driving the countryside in his Chevy Camaros. Al was more of a private individual who attempted to stay updated with technology and the business world, and also kept his mind active through word and number puzzles.

Al will be dearly missed by his 3 sons, Eddie Zillmer of Osseo, Kenneth (Karen) Zillmer of Wausaukee, Jim (Natalie) Zillmer of Milwaukee; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie (Rich) Hart, Matt Zillmer, Chris Zillmer (Tina), Jaime Zillmer and Jami Wallace; 2 step grand children; Ashley Holley and Danny Woitekaitis; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Elmer (Lucy) Zillmer of Campbellsport; nieces, nephews and several cousins.

In addition to his wife Marion, Al was also preceded in death by his parents, Albert on Feb. 23, 1990, and Amanda on Feb. 17, 1995; granddaughter Kathy Pinkston; great granddaughter Isabel Pinkston; great granddaughter Isabelle Pinkston; father and mother-in-law, Oluf and Elva Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Waldo and Carlee Johnson, Caren Sieg, Luella and Louie Adams.

Funeral services for Al will be held Friday, May 19, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the Osseo Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home on Friday.
