Joyce Ann Thalacker, 73, of Eau Claire, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Joyce Ann was born March 26, 1950, to John and Mattie (Johnson) D’Lamatter. She was raised with her 8 siblings in the Stanley-Boyd area and attended Pleasant Valley Country School and Stanley High School. In 1967 Joyce Ann was united in marriage to Howard Markham and to this union her 4 older children were born. While married to Howard the couple with their children lived on Stoney Lonesome Road in Wilson Township of Eau Claire County. After their divorce she marred Donald Hudson on Feb. 18, 1978, and was blessed with 2 additional children and lived in Ludington Township.
Joyce worked in software assembly for Cray Research and TTM in Chippewa Falls and Hutchinson Technology in Eau Claire. She looked forward to playing BINGO and the slots at area casinos and fishing with the grandchildren. Staying in contact with family was always important to her.
Joyce Ann will be dearly missed by her 6 children, Theresa Kunz and Diane Thomas both of Eau Claire, Michael Markham of Stanley, Julie (Mark) Bergh of Riverside, CA, Donna Walmsley of Augusta and Donald (Stephanie) Hudson Jr. of Ludington Township; 13 grandchildren, Amber Miles Christopher (Danielle) Kunz, Joshua Kunz, Monica, Damon and Bryon Markham, Blake, Alyssa, Alec, Collin and Bently Bergh, Skyler Hudson-Walmsley, Marisa Walmsley; step grandson Austin Lengyel; and 7 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Peggy Sue Kuehl of Augusta, Patricia (Dennis “Doc”) Lewallen of Stanley, Donna LeMere of Eau Claire, Barbara (Brian) Kunz and Betty (Jim) Brown all of Augusta, John D’Lamatter of Fall Creek and Hazel Moyer (Baldemar Gutierrez)of Holcombe; her loving companion of 6 years Eugene “Geno” Wik of Eau Claire: several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Joyce Ann was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mattie; sister Bonnie Smith; brother William D’Lamatter; great grandchild Riley Kunz; son-in-law Stephen Walmsley; step grandson James Lengyel; sister-in-law Rhonda D’Lamatter; brother-in-law Ted Kuehl; 2 nephews, Russell Kunz and Donald Lewallen; niece Doreen Kuehl; 2 uncles, Earl and Virgil D’Lamatter; and former husband Donald Hudson Sr.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Station.
Burial will be in the Ludington Cemetery.
