Donna Storms-Lowry
Dona Jane Storms-Lowry, 81, of Fairchild, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 15, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Osseo.
Donna, daughter of Raymond and Irene (Brown) Storms was born on April 10, 1942, in Oak Park, Illinois. She lived her early childhood in the Chicago area and enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Lilly Lake in Kenosha County. After her graduation from high school she attended Kansas State University and since then has been an avid Jayhawk fan. She wasn’t interested in sports at all unless the Jayhawks were playing, especially basketball and football.
As a young woman she worked as a store front model in Chicago. She later took employment with Roto Mercury in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and eventually became the lease manager with the company. Donna met her Irish born husband William Kenneth Lowry in 1985. Several years later in 2003, while floating on Lilly Lake they were united in marriage. The couple lived on the lake until moving to Fairchild in 2006. While in Fairchild they operated a campsite on their property and a boarding type bed and breakfast.
All throughout her life she enjoyed cooking and this interest steered her into jobs with Mike Lavin’s Catering in Burlington and the Bristol Oaks Golf Course in Bristol, WI. She loved kitchen gadgets and when a new one came out she had to have it. If you were family or friends you definitely were treated to many delicious meals, as she loved company and entertaining. She was particularly fond of wine so when entertaining most of her meals were accompanied by a glass or 2 of one of her favorites.
Donna also loved shopping, which benefited many of her family and friends. She took the time and scoped things out looking for the best bargains while utilizing coupons and discounts. If you gave her money to get something for you, she always came back with more than what you expected and usually with change.
Donna with her out going personality will be dearly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her 3 step-children, Keith Lowry of Walworth; Sarahlynn (Enrigue Puebla) of Kenosha, Kyle (Erica) Lowry of La Marque, TX; and 9 grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth who passed away on Nov. 4, 2019; and her parents. At this time no formal services are being planned.
