Irene Sichler
Irene Ellen Sichler, 94, formerly of Onalaska and Edina, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday evening Nov. 15, 2023, at SpringBrook Village Assisted Living in LaCrescent, MN.

Irene, daughter of Clarence and Lydia (Bramer) Sichler was born March 28, 1929, in Freeport, Illinois.

In the 1940s the Sichler family moved to Onalaska where she graduated from high school in 1947. Following her graduation she worked as a secretary at the Technical College of LaCrosse. After her younger sister Barbara graduated the two moved to Madison, where she worked for an insurance company. Wanting to venture out the sisters moved to California and settled in the San Francisco area and there she also worked in the insurance field.

To be closer to family the sisters decided to move back to the midwest in 1958 and made their home in Edina, MN. At this time in her life she wanted to further her education so she enrolled at the University of Minnesota and not only received her degree but was offered a secretarial position and stayed with the university until her retirement.
Still not ready to fully retire, Irene decided to experience retail life and took a clerk position with the Target Center in Edina. She ended up loving this job also, as she enjoyed interacting with people.
Irene lived life to the fullest and always tried to stay on top of things and diligently kept up on current events. She and Barbara looked forward to their traveling experiences and loved seeing and learning about new areas and just watching the people.

After her sister Barbara passed away in 2004, Irene remained in Edina until 3 years ago when her failing health brought her back to an assisted care facility in LaCrosse and to be closer to her brother and his family. When she passed away at the age of 94 years, 7 months and 18 days, she was in the care of SpringBrook Village in LaCrescent.
Irene is survived by her brother Charles Sichler of Dakota, MN; sister Gwendolyn and Patrick Appleton of Surprise, AZ; by 2 nieces, Deborah and David Arentz, Lori Kohlwey; 3 nephews, Timothy and Tammy Sichler, Patrick and Kim Appleton and Michael and Natalie Appleton; and their families.

In addition to her sister, Irene was also preceded in death by her parents, Clarence in 1982 and Lydia in 1991.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta with a visitation one hour prior to services.

Burial will be in the Town of Cleveland Cemetery where her parents, sister Barbara and many of the Bramer side of her family are buried.
