Duane Rugotzke
Duane David Rugotzke, 85, of Lincoln Township, rural Fall Creek, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, on the farm where he was raised.

Duane was born August 20, 1938, son of Frederick and Adelia (Kunert) Rugotzke. He was raised with his sister Diane in the Bears Grass area of rural Fall Creek. His faith was always an important part of his life and was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church-Bears Grass. He attended rural country school and graduated from Augusta High School.
Duane was united in marriage to Doris “Dori” Loftsgordon on Dec. 5, 1959, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. After they were first married the couple lived in Eau Claire and Augusta. When Duane’s parent’s retired in 1964 and moved into Augusta, he and Dori moved to the family farm where they raised their own family on the land he so dearly loved.

Duane’s entire life revolved around farming and he never really took on a hobby, but he did enjoy old time dancing. He and Dori, along with Charles and Dorothy Kaeding had many fun filled hours traveling throughout the area and into Minnesota to dance. He also enjoyed watching sporting events on television, especially football, NASCAR and baseball.
After Dori passed away on July 18, 2016, Duane remained in their home and gradually cut back on his farming chores. Without cattle to care for he concentrated his time on his faithful canine companion Gordon.
Duane will be deeply missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Brian Williamsen of Green Bay; sister Diane Tillung of Eau Claire and her family; and Dori’s extended family.

We take comfort in knowing that Duane is now in God’s care and reunited with his wife Dori; father Fred who passed away in 1965; mother Adelia in 2010; and sons, Jeffery who passed away in 1980 and David in 1981.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church at 501 E Fillmore Avenue in Eau Claire, with Pastor Mark Schulz officiating.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Augusta. Friends may call 1 hour prior to services Monday at the church.

The family is assisted by Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
