Susan Pettis
Susan L. Pettis, 71, of rural Augusta, departed this life late Tuesday evening, March 28, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Red Cedar in Menomonie, WI.

Susan Lynn Pettis, daughter of Lee and Lorraine (Ortmann) Wilson was born January 2, 1952, in Milwaukee, WI. She grew up in the village of Eagle, in Waukesha County and lived most of her childhood on Eagle Spring Lake. Susan attended Eagleville Country School and in 1970, graduated from Mukwonago High School.
After graduation, Susan enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, and while stationed in San Diego, she met her first husband, JD Terry, Jr. They married in 1972, and afterward, Susan and JD welcomed their daughter, Brandi Terry. After her honorable discharge, Susan settled in Texas with JD and Brandi. Susan later returned to Wisconsin.

Susan and Terry Pettis met while young in Eagleville, and reconnected later in life. During a snowstorm on May 10, 2000, Susan and Terry were wed on the television set of the Ponderosa near Carson City, Nevada. Susan and Terry lived their entire married life in Wisconsin, primarily in the Lyndon Station and Hawkins areas. In 2015, Susan and Terry relocated to Augusta to assume care of Terry’s sister, Brenda. Brenda was invited into their home, and Susan became Brenda’s caregiver.
Susan had a strong work ethic, spending much of her life employed in factories - starting with Paper Mate and later, for Weather Shield Window Manufacturer in Hawkins. For a time, Susan worked at Ho-Chunk Gaming Casino in Wisconsin Dells, and later assisted multiple families with home health care and helped them manage their households, while still providing in-home care for her sister-in-law, Brenda.

Until limited by her own personal health, Susan enjoyed visiting the casinos, going hunting and fishing, and playing cards or board games with friends and family. Susan was fun-spirited, and remained young at heart. She had a playful sense of humor and her laughter was contagious. Susan was generous with her time, quickly volunteering whenever help was needed, no matter how far away. Susan was an animal lover who nurtured and cherished many dogs and cats during her lifetime.

Susan will be dearly missed by her husband Terry of Augusta; daughter Brandi Terry of McKinney, TX; brothers Ronnie (Jan) Wilson of Lima, OH and Ken (Shirley) Wilson of Flippin, AR; nephew Tony Wilson of Milwaukee, WI; mother-in-law Betty Pettis of Altoona, WI; sister-in-law, Brenda Pettis of Augusta; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Pettis (Darlene Pesicek) of Palmyra, WI and Harvey Terry of Melissa, TX. Susan was preceded in death by her father Lee in 1983; mother Lorraine in 1991; and father-in-law Leland Pettis in 2018.

At Susan’s request, no formal services are planned. At a later date, Susan will be buried alongside her parents at Saint Theresa's Oak Knoll Cemetery in Eagle, Wisconsin.

The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
