Marilyn Mansur
Marilyn Beatrice Mansur, 91, formerly of Ludington Township, rural Augusta, passed away peacefully in hospice care and surrounded by her family on Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023, at the Augusta Health and Rehabilitation.

Marilyn was born on August 2, 1932, one of 9 children born to Herbert and Gladys (Higbee) Polinske. She was raised in Ludington Township where she attended Pine View Country School and Augusta High School. She was united in marriage to James Mansur on July 15, 1948, in Dubuque, Iowa.

Marilyn was a wonderful mom and always worked hard providing for her family. She always had a very large garden that provided much of the produce she canned every summer. Hundreds of quarts of fruit, vegetables and meat were canned and stored in the basement to feed her family.

Marilyn was an active member of the Full Gospel Mission in Ludington, starting in the 1950’s and going until her health kept her from attending. She taught Sunday School and Bible School there and was also part of the music team. She enjoyed the pot luck meals after church and over the years provided a variety of delicious food for the congregation. Her pumpkin bars were always a hit.

In 1968 she began C.N.A. training and after completing the course started working at the Northern Center in Chippewa Falls. Many of the residents there became like family to her. She continued to garden and can while working 40 hours a week at the center. She retired after 25 years of service.

In her spare time she enjoyed making rag rugs and crocheted beautiful items, many of which she gave away as gifts from her heart.

Marilyn will be dearly missed by her 6 sons, James Jr. “Jimmy” Mansur of Stanley, Michael (Lois) Mansur of Augusta, Donald and Wesley Mansur of Stanley, Jeffrey Mansur of Augusta, Joseph Mansur of Eau Claire; 3 daughters, Kathleen (Dean) Ginther of Taylor, Cindy Mansur of Eau Claire, Susie Mansur of Augusta; 2 brothers, Philip and Kenneth Polinske both of Stanley; sister Joyce Pilgrim of Cadott; 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1979; mother in 1988; husband Jim in 2006; grandson David Mansur in 2020; great granddaughter Claire Dircks in 2019; and siblings, Bob in 2002, Diane in 2003, William in 2011, Dave in 2013 and Al in 2016.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the Ludington Township Cemetery. Funeral service will be private.

Thank you to Silver Leaf Assisted Living and Augusta Area Home and staff for their kindness and care for the last seven years. Thank you also to St. Croix Hospice and staff for their care and assistance as mom finished her journey here.
