Gary Jungerberg
Gary Harvey Jungerberg, 71, of rural Augusta, passed away Friday afternoon, August 11, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

Gary, son of Harvey and Elvira (Zimmerman) Jungerberg was born March 10, 1952, in
Eau Claire. Until the age of 4 he had lived in Ludington Township of Eau Claire County. In 1956 the family moved to Lincoln Township, rural Fall Creek. He attended Green Meadow Country School and Fall Creek High School.

While in the 8th grade Gary discovered the love for playing the guitar. He started in his first band at the age of 14 and playing in bands spanned a time frame of 62 years. For a few of those years, starting at the age of 17 he travel over the road as a musician. Over the years he had played base guitar and harmonized with the Backside Band, Sage, Cadillac Cowboys, Billy and the Challengers, the Contenders, Doc and the Interns, the Black Sheep Band and then as a duo with Richard Berg, singing with Rich until he passed away in Sept. of 2021.

Before his marriage Gary had been employed by Rural Electric of Fall Creek and also owned and operated a 2 truck milk route.
Gary was united in marriage to Nancy Meyers on May 1, 1976, in Fall Creek at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church, the church where he was baptized and confirmed. After his marriage the couple began farming, starting first in Lincoln Township before going west where they operated farms in Lebanon and Tillamook, Oregon, and Ridgefield, Washington. In 1998, to be nearer to their aging parents they returned to Wisconsin and purchased their current farm in Otter Creek Township, rural Augusta, which they operated until semi retiring in 2010. In addition to farming for a number of years he had also driven semi for Mid-State Trucking out of Hammond, WI.

Gary’s life revolved around his family, farming and music. He was able to have played with so many good friends in various bands through out his life and also loved the time spent on his tractor working in the fields. His wife, daughter and her family were a wonderful blessing to him and he was a proud grandpa to Shelby and Dylan. For the past 8 years he looked forward to spending the winter months with Nancy in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Gary will be dearly missed by Nancy, his loving wife of 47 years; daughter Niki (Matt) Torpen of Osseo; 2 grandchildren, Shelby and Dylan Torpen both of Osseo; 2 sisters, Deb (Herman) Holmstrom of Bay City, Sue (Mark) Ruhe of Ennis, MT; brother Greg (Tammy) Jungerberg of Fall Creek; aunts and uncles, Inez and Lawrence Dehnke and Ervin Zimmerman all of Fall Creek and Dorothy Stelter of Milwaukee; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Harvey Nov. 18, 2012; and mother Elvira on Aug. 13, 2017.
