Doris Johnson
Doris “ Dodie” Johnson, 92, formerly of Augusta, passed away early Friday morning, Nov. 3, 2023, at River Pines Nursing Home in Altoona, where she had been a resident since March of 2022.  

Doris “ Dodie” Jean Johnson, was born January 20, 1931, one of 7 daughters born to John and Gertrude (Everts) Coakley. She was baptized at Brackett Guardian Angel Catholic Church and received First Communion at St. Anthony’s’ Catholic Church in Augusta. Doris attended Augusta Elementary School and graduated from Augusta High School in 1949. While in high school she worked as a waitress at the Nu Café for Grace Mack and Emma Balliett, and also for Fred Kawell when he took ownership of the café.  
Doris was united in marriage to Morris Edwin Johnson on June 19th, 1958, at the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church. For the first five years of their marriage they lived in Black River Falls, moving to Augusta in 1963, where she was employed as a certified nursing assistant at the Augusta Area Nursing Home. For several years Doris took care of children in her home, enjoying the time spent and relationships she developed with them. While in Augusta she was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving with the ladies society, as Sunday School Superintendent, and was one of the first women to serve on the church council.  

After Morris passed away on Sept. 18, 1992, she continued to live in Augusta until 1994 when she sold her home and moved to her apartment on Damon Street in Eau Claire. Doris loved spending time with her family and especially the grandchildren, she also spent many hours on embroidery projects.  
Doris will be dearly missed by her son, Joseph and Michelle Johnson of Onalaska4 grandchildren: Alyssa, Nicholas, Michael and Maria Johnson; brother-in-law, LeRoy and Carolyn Johnson of Eau Claire; and many very special friends.  

Doris was preceded in death by parents, husband Morris on Oct. 2, 1992, and sisters, Eleanore Karow, Marion Soley, Julia Sapp, Gertrude Gilbertson, Margaret Neibauer and Avis Holte.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
