Dave Henthorn
David Lee Henthorn, 68, of the Village of Fairchild, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home early Friday morning, December 1, 2023. 

David, son of Denver and Alice (Noble) Henthorn was born March 20, 1955, in Fort Atkinson, WI. He was raised in the Blair-Taylor area, where he attended grade school and Blair High School. Dave served in the United States Army from July of 1974 until July of 1978 and his reserved obligation until 1980. While in the service he had been stationed for a time in Germany. During his service time he was blessed with his son Christopher. 
Following his honorable discharge he returned to Wisconsin and was married in 1979 to Bonnie Ann Rieck, to this union 3 children were born. At this time in his life he lived in Nelson. He was later united in marriage to the love of his life, Elizabeth “Liz” Machnik on December 11, 1993, in Whitehall. Dave and Liz had lived in Whitehall, Merrillan and Mondovi before moving to Camp Road in Fairchild in 2007. Since 2011 they had lived in the Senior Living Apartments in Fairchild.  

During his life Dave had worked in assembly at Ashley Furniture in Arcadia and also farmed. In the later years he enjoyed transporting his Amish friends throughout the local area and beyond.  

Dave loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and hunting. Some of his favorite areas in which to do all 3 activities were Hatfield and Coonfork. Due to his health this was the first year he had missed the annual deer hunting season in a long time. He was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Dave was a member of the Osseo American Legion. 
Everyone of Dave’s family meant the world to him and any day spending time with them, especially his grandchildren, was always a great day. His church family with the Augusta Assembly of God and the Fairchild Church of Hope was also an important part of his life.  

Dave will be dearly and deeply missed by Liz his beloved wife of nearly 30 years; 4 children, Christopher (Karrie) Henthorn of New Albany, IN, Ricky Rieck and Steven (Ellen) Henthorn all of Millville, MN, Stephanie (Julio) Lopez of St. Charles, MN,; step daughter, Misty Gerber of Merrillan; his 9 adored grandchildren, Denver, Kody, Blake, Thanora, Lucas, Kiara, Grace, Dalton and Jacob; soon to arrive great grandchild; mother Alice Henthorn of Taylor; siblings, Tom (Sue) Henthorn of Alma, Carol (Eugene) Hanson of Nelson, Julie Pyka of Taylor, Danise (Manfred) Vonuhl of Whitehall, Wanda (Todd) Richards of Texas; brother-in-law, Kenneth Crivits of Blair; and many nieces and nephews; Liz’s mother, Audrey Machnik of Sheboygan; Liz’s siblings, Roman (Joanne) Machnik, Belinda Machnik all of Milwaukee, Deborah Machnik of West Allis and their families. 

 He is further survived by his Benedict siblings, Larry Benedict of Perry, IA, Martha Benedict-Crandall of Norwalk, IA, Carol Benedict of Lorimor, IA, Edgar Benedict of Jamaica, IA, Dawn Ross of Des Moines, IA, Roger Benedict of the Philippines, Cindy Benedict of Haynesville, LA; and their families. 

 Dave was preceded in death by his father Denver; sister Linda Crivits; and father-in-law, Michael Machnik. 

A time to celebrate Dave’s life and to meet with family and friends will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Augusta Assembly of God Church.
