Daniel Harris
Daniel P. Harris, 61, of Fairchild, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 25, 2023, while working on his cabin in Fairchild.

Daniel Paul Harris was born April 9, 1961, in New Orleans, LA, to Edgar and Mary (Rosenberger) Harris. He grew up in New Orleans, where he received a Catholic education and graduated in 1979 from Archbishop Rummel High School, he also studied at Nichols State University.
Dan worked and remained in Louisiana where he married and to this union his 2 sons were born. He later moved to Florida, then to Minnesota and eventually to Wisconsin and first settled in Independence. While on a blind date at Stella Blues in Eau Claire, he met the love of his life Judy Garnett. The two were united in marriage on October 4, 2008, at Price Lutheran Church, rural Fairchild. The couple made their home in Fairchild and were looking forward to moving into their new log home that they had been working on for the past 2 years, also in Fairchild.

Locally Dan had been employed for Global Industries in Osseo, where he had worked in the warehouse and with sales. A disability unfortunately resulted in his early retirement.

Dan was a true outdoorsman and living in Wisconsin gave him the opportunity to enjoy his passions. He was an occasional fisherman but an avid bow hunter. He enjoyed the solitude being out in the woods alone with nature and his surroundings, but also looked forward to hunting with others and especially his outings with his brother. His love for the sport encouraged him to teach archery safety courses to the kid’s league at F and D Archery in Osseo. He was an active member of the Fairchild Rod and Gun Club and through them also assisted with the classes for concealed carry permits. In addition to his outdoor activities he was an enthusiastic participant in local car shows where he entered his 68 Mustang.

Dan will be remembered as loving husband with a tremendous sense of humor. He had a knack for making others laugh with his crazy and often embellished stories. Because of his personality he was a wonderful friend and a person that children were drawn to and admired. He felt a strong admiration for our veterans and police officers and was proud of his son’s Marine and Coast Guard career.

Dan will be deeply and dearly missed by Judy, his loving wife of 14 years; 2 sons Daniel P Harris Jr. of Houston TX, and Derek P Harris of Lahaina, HI; 2 grandsons, Wyatt and Nico Harris of Houston TX: sister Pamela (Wallace) McCann of Thibodaux LA; brothers, Gerard (Becky) Harris of Metairie LA, and Jeff Harris of Fairchild; mother-in-law Kay Garnett of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Joanne (Greg) Huse of Eau Claire; 5 nephews, Ryan (Sara) McCann of Thibodaux, LA, Gerard (Ariana) Harris of Evergreen CO, Jonathan (Stephanie) Melancon of Gomez LA, Jeffrey Melancon of Gomez LA, Cody Huse of Eau Claire; 5 nieces, Megan (Jai) Daigle of Pierre Part, LA, Lauren (Brent) Pitaro of Manderville, LA, Alexa Harris of Ft Walton, FL, Amanda Harris of Covington LA, Maddie Huse of Eau Claire; several great nieces and nephews; and by his faithful and constant companion his 4 year old beagle Boudreaux.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mary Harris; and brother Edgar Joseph (Joey) Harris.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Fairchild Sportsman Club, 300 Pond Street, Fairchild, WI.
