Margaret Hamman
Margaret Josephine Hamman, 84, of Augusta, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire.

Margaret, daughter of Russell and Eva (Hofschild) Faske was born August 23, 1939, on the Faske family farm on Faske Road just north of Augusta. She was raised with her sister Rosalin and attended Dells Country School and graduated in 1958 from Augusta High School.
Margaret was united in marriage to Kenneth Hamman on January 20, 1962, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Augusta. The couple lived the first 3 years of their married life in Fairchild where they operated Ken and Margaret’s Bar. After 3 years they realized that their hearts were back on Faske Road, so they returned to the home farm where she was raised. In 1995 they sold this home and built their current home just across the road on another parcel of their property.

In addition to raising her son and daughter, Margaret kept busy with various jobs and activities. For 3 years she worked as a nurse’s aide at the Augusta Area Nursing Home and then for an additional 3 years operated a sewing company out of her home. For 16 years she worked making lampshades for Wisconsin Lighting out of Banbury Place in Eau Claire. She had also worked as a home child daycare provider and a Tupperware Dealer.

Margaret had been an active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Fall Creek, having served as a board member and enjoyed her participation with its ladies society. Her hobbies kept her busy at home such as gardening, sewing and knitting. She always looked forward to the activities at the Augusta Senior Center, especially playing BINGO.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her two children and 4 grandchildren; son Russell (Rene) Hamman and their sons, Cory and Jake Hamman all of Augusta, daughter, Julie (Gregg) Lundquist and their children, Faith and Kevin Lundquist all of Oak Grove, MN; sister Rosalin Nobles of Augusta and her daughter, Brenda (Craig) Nelson of Eleva; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorraine Schmidt of Augusta, Phyllis and Donald Petznick of Osseo and Gordy Hamman of Stanley; and several other Hamman nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her mother Eva in 1950; father Russell in 1966; husband Kenneth on March 8, 1999; and niece Joy Taffel in 2015.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at 2 :00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Jonathan Wessel officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.

Friends may call starting at noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
