Marc Halvorson
Marc Edward Halvorson, 71, of rural Humbird, passed away in hospice care at his home on Thursday evening, Oct. 12, 2023.

Marc was born in Whitehall, WI, on August 12, 1952, son of Clarence and Gladys (Rumpel) Halvorson. Early in his life he was raised with his siblings in the Whitehall-Blair area. During his grade school years the family farmed in the Alma Center, Humbird, Fairchild and Taylor area. The family eventually moved to Merrillan and he attended Alma Center High School.

Following his education Marc served in the United States Army. After his discharge he lived for a short time in Okalahoma and Texas where he experienced life working on the oil rigs. Wanting to be closer to family he moved back to Wisconsin. During his life he had driven dump truck for Clyde Elvord Trucking out of Madison, he farmed for a time in Fairchild, worked for Ashley as a spotter truck driver in the yard, and before ill health forced his trucking retirement he was transporting logs for Solberg Trucking out of Blair and Whitehall. Not wanting to be completely idle, for over the past year he was employed at the Palmer House in Fall Creek.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing with family and friends, tending to his cats, drinking coffee and friendly conversations.

Marc will be dearly missed by 5 siblings, Richard Halvorson (Carol Bergstrom) of Humbird, Rita Halvorson of Pleasantville, Raye (Richard) Chandler of Neenah, Gwyn (Nickie) Halvorson of Humbird and John (Lois) Halvorson of Merrillan; step son Shane Halvorson of Augusta; 4 step granddaughters, 1 step grandson and several step great grandchildren.

Marc was preceded in death by his father Clarence in 1972; mother Gladys Halvorson-Springer in 2023; wife Linda in 2019; siblings, Elroy and Steve Halvorson ; nephew Josh Halvorson; and Linda’s sons, Steve Jr. and David Lee Halvorson and Jerry Gravits.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Humbird Rod and Gun Club with Pastor Terry Marg officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery in Merrillan.
