Joseph Davis
Joseph W. Davis, 73, formerly of Fairchild, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.

Joseph Wayne Davis, son of Joseph and Carol (Munyon) Davis was born June 25, 1949, in Lincoln, IL. Joey as known by family and friends was raised and attended school in Mount Pulaski, IL. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War in Vietnam. Unfortunately he was one of our proud soldiers that came home with the side effects of being exposed to Agent Orange and afflicted with PTSD due to the horrors of war. Upon his honorable discharge he came back to his home town area and spent 10 years in Lincoln.
His parents had moved to Fairchild, WI, in 1979, and wanting to be closer to them he purchased a home in Fairchild. For a time he had also lived under supervision in Chippewa Falls and eventually was able to have his own home in Augusta. While in Augusta he fell several times which required the care he needed at Dove Healthcare West . He wanted to return to his home in Augusta, but after a time decided the Dove was a good place to remain.

Joey was generous to fault and a kinder and more caring individual who couldn’t ask for. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards and the thrill of winning on pull tabs.

Joey will be dearly missed by his mother Carol Davis of Fairchild; sister Karen Davis (Darcy Wartella) also of Fairchild; uncles and aunts, Joseph and Charlotte Ryan of Decatur, IL, Rita Vaughn and Charles Lowman both of Mason City, IL; 2 nieces, Kaylee Wartella and Jackie Davis; and nephew Benjamin (Jessica) Wartella.

Joey was preceded in death by his father Joe in 1992; and brothers, Brent in 2019 and Ward in 2022.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. Burial with military rites will be held in the Fairchild Village Cemetery.

Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to time of services at the funeral home.
