Gregory Dean Barhyte, 59, of Fall Creek, passed away suddenly due to heart related complications at his apartment on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
Greg was born August 23, 1963, in Woodstock, Illinois, the son of Robert and Ruth (Hunter) Barhyte. From the Woodstock area he moved to McHenry, IL, and then to Osseo in the 1970’s, where he attended Osseo-Fairchild High School.
After moving to Wisconsin, he had lived in Arcadia, Black River Falls, Osseo, Augusta and Merrillan before moving to Fall Creek. Greg married Eileen Kerska and the couple later divorced.
Most of Greg’s life he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. He had worked at Melvin Mork’s Salvage Yard and K.F. Evergreen both in Osseo and Hunter Excavating in Alma Center. Due to ill health he had retired and moved to his apartment in Fall Creek.
Greg enjoyed using his mechanical ability to compete in various demolition derbies over the years. He was also an avid Wisconsin fisherman and enjoyed taking family with him on his fishing adventures. At home playing video games by himself or with family and friends was also an important part of his life.
Greg will be dearly missed by his son Matthew (Sandra) Barhyte of Osseo; 4 daughters, Lisa Perkovich of Chippewa Falls, Ruth “Nikki (Jose) Sandoville of Eleva, Annette (Matthew) Livick of Black River Falls, Robin Reyes of Strum; 6 grandchildren, Josephine Barhyte, Natalya Campana, Quentin Lein, Harper Snider, Steven Livick and Christhian Villagran; siblings, Deborah (Dan) Peterson, Robin Lewallen (Myron Olson) all of Augusta, Dannette Barhyte of Osseo, Cynthia Welch of Blair, Robert “Bobbie” Barhyte of Merrillan, David Barhyte of Black River Falls and Mike Barhyte (Marsha Schultz) of Augusta; uncle Thomas Hunter of Merrillan; best friends, Kenny Mock and Darnell Cochran; good friends and neighbors at the Fall Creek Commons, Steve and Ben; and also his faithful canine companion Keyda.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Barhyte; uncle Wally Hunter; and brothers-in-law, Mike Lewallen and Robert Welch.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with date and time to be announced later this month.
Burial will be in the spring in the Levis Cemetery, rural Osseo.
