Gregg Sale
Gregg Sale, 74, loving husband of Virginia (Walker) Sale, passed away Jan. 27, 2022, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Gregg was born April 26, 1947, in Peru, Illinois, to Raymond and Katherine (Putoff) Sale. He was raised in LaSalle with his 4 siblings and graduated high school from Saint Bede Academy in Spring Valley, IL.
Following his graduation he served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a medic. After his honorable discharge he returned to Illinois, where he drove semi before becoming a Deputy Sheriff with the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department. After 3 years he returned to driving semi, this time for Air Products and Chemicals out of LaSalle. Due to health issues he retired from this position in 2007.

While driving truck through Wisconsin, he meet the loved of his life, Virginia Walker, who was working in Osseo. The couple later married on Sept. 20, 1996, in Ottawa, IL. The couple lived in Spring Valley, IL, until 2010 when Gregg bought Virginia their current home in Northfield.
While in Northfield, Gregg had time for his 2 favorite hobbies, raising guppies and pigeons. He was interested in genetics and with both the Birmingham Roller pigeons and his several tanks of guppies he would breed for different color and traits.

Gregg will be dearly missed by Virginia, his loving wife of 25 years.
He is further survived by his brother, Bill (Patricia) Sale of Indiana; 3 sisters, Linda (John) Ziel, Rose (Rod) Walk, and Phyllis (Greg) Robinson all of Illinois; 3 children, Katherine, Jeremy and Doug; 4 step children, Michael Johnson, Michelle (Michael) Kinzelman all of Ohio, Darrell Johnson and Troy Johnson both of Osseo; and 4 grandchildren, Cody Webster, Dalton Johnson, Samantha Cochick and Dillon Johnson.

Gregg was preceded in death by his parents; stepdaughter Candy Johnson; and brother-in-law Greg Robinson.

A Celebration of Gregg’s Life will be held at a later date. The family is assisted by Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
