Julie Hubbard Godwin, a true southern lady was welcomed into Heaven early Wednesday morning November 9, 2022.

Julie and her husband Gary of Leland, North Carolina, were visiting their daughter and her family in Augusta, Wisconsin, when she suddenly became ill and was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire where she passed away the following morning. Julie was born November 20, 1952, at Pope AFB, North Carolina, the daughter of Robert and Alpha (Caldwell) Hubbard. She grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she was baptized and confirmed into the Methodist faith. She graduated from Reid Ross High School and went on to attend Business College in Fayetteville, where she earned an associate degree.

For over 20 years she worked in the office of Eastern Turf Equipment Company in Fayetteville. Julie was united in marriage to Richard Johnson in 1971 and to this union her children, Jennifer and Rick were born. She later married John R. Jackson was blessed with another son John. She eventually met Gary Godwin Sr. and the two were married on September 17, 2004, in Las Vegas and since then had lived in Leland. Julie suffered with various illnesses throughout her life and in 2011 underwent a kidney transplant donated to her by her former daughter-in-law Marianne, who unselfishly blessed Julie with an additional 11 years here on earth.

Even with health issues it never stopped her from being a doting mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and baker, enjoyed shopping and never missed an opportunity to attend a dance to go “shaggin” to beach music. Her faith was also an important part of her life. While in Leland she had been an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Wilmington and especially enjoyed the dining group with her church family.
