Gerald Jenks
Gerald R. Jenks, 76, of rural Fairchild passed away peacefully in his home, Sunday, August 2, 2020, following his battle with lung cancer.
He was born January 28, 1944, in La Crosse, to Ruel and Eileen (Jolivette) Jenks. Jerry was a veteran, serving one tour in the U.S. Army. Following the service, and several different jobs, he soon went to work as an equipment operator and was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 139. On 7/17/65 he married Mary (Mellick) Jenks with whom he had five children. They later divorced. On 3/21/82, he married Bette George. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards and his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Bette; his children, James Jenks, Theresa (Gary) Rudy, Susan (Darrell) Olson, Monica (Michael) Leis and Jean Gadow; his step-children, Nels (Angie) Kolve, Lori ( Mark) Jingle, Jody Kolve, Sheryl Victoria, and DeWayne (Sara) George; his siblings, Alice Haugen, Bert “Bud” Jenks Sr., Margaret (William) Tschumper, James Jenks, and Patricia Dummer; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, loving family members, friends and his four-legged companion, Crank.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanne; his brother, Richard Jenks, his brothers-in-law, Marvin Dummer and Olaf Haugen; his sisters-in law, Kathy Jenks and Patricia Jenks; and his good friend, LeRoy George.The family would like to thank Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Jerry.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, at Augusta Assembly of God Church, 1225 W Lincoln St., Augusta, WI 54722 with Pastor Dale Hazard presiding.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 12:00 until the time of services. Jerry’s cremains will be dispersed in a private ceremony with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
