Mike Stary
Michael L. Stary Sr., 68, of Augusta passed away Tuesday evening, April 24, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, comforted by his loving family at his side.
Michael Lawrence Stary, son of Lawrence and Dolores “Dode” (Hess) Stary was born Dec. 17, 1949 in Turtle Lake, WI. At an early age he moved with his family to Chippewa Falls, where he was confirmed at Notre Dame Catholic Church and graduated from McDonell Central High School in 1968. He also attained a Bachelor Degree in Business from UW- Eau Claire. Mike was united in marriage to Tonia Klingbeil on March 14, 1987 in Augusta. The couple lived all their married life in Augusta. For over 20 years Mike had been employed as a senior purchaser at S.G. I. in Chippewa Falls. He had also worked for Tom and Peggy Randall at the Woodshed in Augusta, had bar-tended at the Eagles Club in Hallie, the Black Bear Supper Club in Augusta, and for Connells Supper Club in Fall Creek. At the present time he worked as a material handler at Global Finishing Solutions in Osseo. Mike enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends and in recent years truly cherished being able to share his favorite past time with his grandchildren. He had a great appreciation for vintage sporting equipment and learning as much about an item as he could. Over the years through the Woodshed he gave many interesting Amish tours through the rural Augusta countryside. He helped many of his Amish friends by locating items they needed and also sold their various products for them. Mike loved life and sharing his zest for life with others. Those who could call Mike a family member or a friend were definitely blessed.
Mike will be dearly missed by Tonia, his wife of 31 years; 4 children, Christopher (Natasha) Burt of Eau Claire, Amanda (Josh) Knuth of Augusta, Michael Jr. (Megan) Stary of Osseo, Sara (Marceano) Stary of Augusta; 8 grandchildren, Colton, Sophia, Meelah, Gracie, Phoenyx, Ali, Deklan and Olivia; 4 sisters, Mary Ann Stary of Chippewa Falls, Susan Stary, Catherine (Kevin) Littrell all of Kentucky, Patricia (David) O’Dell of Eau Claire: 3 brothers, Thomas (Christine) Stary of Cadott, Robert Stary of Chippewa Falls, Mark (Jeff Coombs) Stary of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law, Ellen Stray of Eau Claire; Tonia’s 6 siblings, Kathryn (John) Colvin of Chippewa Falls, Rose (Gary) Eddington of Eau Claire, Rodney (Terri) Klingbeil of Green Bay, Rhonda (Bruce) Jensen of Elk Mound, Mary (Carl) Reeck of Roseville, MN, Ann (Ross) Williamson of Sioux Falls, SD; several nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dolores; 3 brothers, Fred, David and Richard “Squeak” Stary; and Tonia’s parents, Robert and Gen Klingbeil and Joan Phillips.
A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
A private funeral service will be held for the family at the funeral home.
