Joann LeMere
Joann R. LeMere, 68, of rural Augusta, passed away early Saturday morning, Oct. 13, 2018 at her home in hospice care.

Joann Ruth LeMere, daughter of Robert and Ruth (Esser) Fitzmaurice was born October 19, 1949, in Black River Falls, WI. Joann with her 5 siblings were raised in Humbird and she attended Humbird Elementary School. She was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alma Center and graduated from Alma Center High School. After her graduation she moved with her family to Augusta, where she worked as a nurse’s aid at the Augusta Area Nursing Home. Joann was united in marriage to Gerald LeMere on June 21, 1969 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Augusta, and to this union their 2 sons were born.

Joann loved being a stay at home mother and did so until her children were both established in school. She then started with the Augusta School District and for nearly 3 years worked with special needs children and also worked as a nurse’s aid at the Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home. In addition to her employment and being a homemaker and mother, Joann was also taking classes at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire.  She eventually was able to concentrate on her classes and graduated from the CVTC Nursing Program. At the time she received her license as a register nurse she and her husband were in transition from the Eau Claire Uniroyal Plant to Fort Wayne, Indiana. For the next 11 years she worked as a registered nurse at the Lutheran Nursing Home in Fort Wayne. When Gerald retired in April of 2001, the couple moved back to Augusta and for the next 16 years she was employed by the Augusta Nursing Home, retiring in April of 2017. Joann loved her role as care giver to her family and also as her occupation. She was not only a dedicated and competent nurse, but one who was very compassionate with her nursing home families. When not working she enjoyed spending time with her family and especially when it involved fishing in nearby lakes, and hunting deer and turkey in her back woods. She also looked forward to driving the tractor to do the yearly field work.
