Ruth Horlacher
Ruth Margaret Horlacher

A little blue paddleboat. A good book. A radio playing country. Sun screen and a beverage. All of those items spelled a good day for Ruth Margaret Horlacher of Augusta WI who passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 03, 2018 with her husband Bob and friend and caregiver Judy Peters by her side. Ruth Muldoon was born to Steve and Florence (Germann) Muldoon on August 17, 1951 in Eau Claire. As a child, she attended Brackett Elementary School and in 1969 graduated from Regis High School. While in the Brackett Grade School, Ruth met the love of her life Robert Bob Horlacher. According to Ruth Ann, their first date occurred while on the way back from Big Falls in a station wagon loaded with friends. Their romance led to a double-ring marriage ceremony in May of 1971 at the Holy Guardian Angel Church in Brackett. An exemplary employee, Ruth was very proud of the 43 years in the dietary department at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She would have been happy working there as long as she could. “I live on vacation” was a phrase that Ruth used frequently. She, of course, was referring to her cabin and later home on Dells Pond north of Augusta. It wasthere that she was most content, where she could sit by the fire and relax or bask in the rays of the afternoon sun. Ruth, truly, lived the belief that the little things in life are the most important. Ruth was a kind and giving individual. Despite several health challenges, she was not one to complain and took each obstacle in stride. Obviously, there is a lesson to be learned there.

Ruth leaves many family and friends to mourn her passing. These include her husband Bob, and her sisters Mary Geisert of Eau Claire and Jane (Dave) Bosherof Brackett. Also, Bill (Linda) Horlacher of Eau Claire, Barb Root of Florida, and Jan Klonecki of Eau Claire.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister Martha; brothers Bob, Tim, and Patrick; and sister Annie. We mustn’t forget Ruth’s beloved pets Goldy, Azure, Dolly, Buddy, and Heidi.

A celebration of Ruth’s life: Saturday, April 14, 2018 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.Palladium in Osseo13409 Park Ave.Osseo, WI.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, rural Eau Claire. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
