Ray Hardesty
Raymond Hardesty Jr., 95, of Augusta Health and Rehabilitation passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. 

Raymond Hardesty Jr., son of Ray and Mary (Everts) Hardesty was born January 7, 1923 on the Hardesty homestead in Fairchild Township, rural Fairchild. Ray live 92 years at this same location until entering the Augusta Nursing Home in December of 2014. Ray attended Graves Mill Country School and then helped with the clearing of their land so they could farm. In addition to farming, Ray did carpentry work and also worked with Bob Warner doing cement work. Ray was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Augusta, where he served on the church council for many years. For many years he also served as the sexton for the Fairchild Cemetery. Ray took a great deal of pride in his farm, carpentry and cement work and always looked forward to a good challenge. He enjoyed the annual deer hunt and the camaraderie share at that time of the year with good friends. 

Survived by niece, Rose McConnell of Mondovi; special friends, Steve and Janet Haldeman of Augusta and their family; several great nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary; 3 sisters, Gladys Johnstone, Bernice Staats and Thelma Lubinski; brother, Lyle “Pete” Hardesty; nephews, Eugene and Larry Staats; niece Betty Nelson.  

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial at a later date in the East Lawn Cemetery inAugusta.  

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon and until time of services.
