Achiel Alfones Willy D'Huyvetter, passed away,
Nov. 23 -2018 born Dec-18-1929
Achiel was born in Vichte, Belgium and as a child his family moved often in Belgium and settled in France, settling in Cully, France. When he was 15 years old. Cully is in the Calvados region near the Normandy coast, also known as the area of D-Day. During that time the American soldiers would come to the family farm and trade there rations for real food. Like eggs and chickens. The soldiers could also stay in the hay barn when resting from battle and could watch movie reels there.
Achiel went to school until the age of 14, being that they were farmers, when the planting season, milking, harvesting needed to be done, Achiel, being able to handle the work and the horses, accompanied his father. Achiel, could tell real horse stories and when he spoke of horse power, it was real "horse power" nothing like the tractors my brothers drive now.On a religious pilgrimage to "Lourdes" in the south of France, in 1957 is where he met Anita they married a year later.
He continued to farm in the "Champagne" region, in Villvenard France until 1969. This is when Achiel received the opportunity to come to the U.S. to live the "American dream" has an immigrant. Achiel and Anita with 5 children in tow picked up and moved to the United States. They settled in Humbird Wisconsin in 1971 after a 2 year stay in Illinois. His ambition, hard work and with his wife and family by his side, Achiel started to work onthe American dream. A first generation immigrant Dad quietly worked hard to accomplish his dream. The vision of successfully owning his own farm in the United States. The whole family worked together. Achiel’s sense of adventure and unafraid to try carried him to accomplish his “American dream”.
An intellect and proud, Achiel was always interested in attaining more knowledge learning the English language and teaching himself to read in English. He spoke French and Flemish fluently. Achiel was a member of numerous organizations relating to farming including the Holstein Assc.,and the Equity Co-op Board, for an extended number of years.
Achiel was a faithful man to his wife, children and his God, he knew that he would end his earthly life to join his creator. Achiel was a gentle, quiet man, his positive demeanor, charismatic, dignified, morals of high integrity, we learned precisely by example, Dad expected nothing less from his family.
A proud, strong, loving, caring and unselfish man, when he smiled his whole face would light up. He loved the midnight mass from Rome at Christmas time and could sing the whole mass in Latin mass. He had a beautiful tenor voice, loved to sing, he would whistle while he worked, therefore, we could always find him, loved music, loved art of all kinds, even diddled in a little schetching himself nothing on canvas, just whatever paper he found at the time. Loved to dance the waltz with Mom, enjoyed a good joke, loved his wife and loved children.
He is preceded in death by his parents Achille and Jeanne D'Huyvetter. Achiel was the oldest of 5 children, he is survived by his brother Andre D’huyvetter (Marie Louise);

with many cousins nieces and nephews in France and Belgium.
He is survived by his loving wife Anita Welvaert-D'Huyvetter of 60+ years.
Along with there 5 children.

Christine D'Huyvetter-Haefner of Hutchinson, MN and Micheal, their children Michael and Jacklyn,Travis and Andrea, Kristina and Mathews, and Rebecca and Kenneth.
Grandchildren Bryanna, Natayla, Calioppe, Victory,Jon, Carson, Logan, Allie, McKenzie, Lukas, Hazel, Memphis, Amelia, Owen.
Emmanuel D'Huyvetter and Jolene of Humbird,WI, their children Sheldon and Clarissa, Sydney and Chloe.
Our family tree has roots in France and Belgium but for us, his seedlings have been transplanted here and the roots are strong.
Dad was one of the most extraordinary, ordinary person. Thankful for his kindness and love that touched so many.
So will finish like Mom did every night with a "sign of the cross" on his forehead and a kiss goodnight, and I Love you sweety!

A visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, from 12:30 p.m to 1:30 p.m at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Fairview, rural Fairchild. A funeral mass will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the church with burial in the church cemetery.
