Marie Nelson
Marie L. Nelson, 83, formerly of Augusta, passed away early Saturday morning, July 8, 2017 at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.  

Marie Louise Nelson, daughter of Julius and Phoebe (LeBarron) Dobrenz was born Feb. 7, 1934. She was raised in Augusta, where she was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church and graduated from Augusta High School in 1952. Before her marriage she had worked at the Pettis Dairy Bar in Augusta. Marie was united in marriage to Sammy Nelson on October 10, 1953 at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor E.G. Schedler officiating. With her husband's 22 year enlistment in the United States Air Force, Marie had live throughout the United States in Virginia, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Arizona, Tennessee, and also in Canada. After Sammy retired in 1969, she moved with her family back to Augusta. While in Augusta, Marie had been a member of Grace Lutheran Church, of its' ladies society and she was also a member of the Augusta American Legion Auxiliary. Since the summer of 2014 she had been a resident of Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.

Marie will be dearly missed by her 3 sons, Daniel (Becky)Nelson of Dallas, TX, Mitchell Nelson of Fall Creek, Alex (Diana) Nelson of Eau Claire; 5 grandchildren, Andrea, Leah, Justin, Matthew and Kyle Nelson: 3 sisters,Ruth Kruschke of Eau Claire, Ruby Bauch of Augusta, Nancy Von Asten of Menomonee Falls; several nieces and nephews.  

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband Sammy on Dec. 31, 2000.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, with Pastor Jonathan Wessel officiating. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.  

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and residents at the Oakwood Villa Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to her and the friendships she made while being apart of your nursing home family.
