William Jones
William L. Jones, “BJ”, 67, of Fairchild, passed away Friday morning Oct. 6, 2017at his home.
William Lee Jones was born Jan. 6, 1950 in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of William and Beatrice (Sherwood) Jones. He was raised in Illinois where he attended school. BJ served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge he returned to Illinois where he had driven semi-trucks and also worked for Murl’s Auto Mart in Winthrop Harbor. In December of 2000 he moved to Fairchild where he owned and operated an auto body shop. BJ loved working on cars and going to car shows. In his younger yearshe had also raced stock cars in Illinois.
BJ will be dearly missed by his fiancée, Linda Chapman of Fairchild; 12 children, Jazmin Jones of Fairchild; Amber Jones, Angela Chapman and Justin(Sara) Chapman all of Eau Claire; Carrie Hager of Anchorage, Alaska, Marla Sarder of Kenosha, Robert Sarder of Fairchild, Frankie Ragan, Donna Ragan and Karen Ragan all of Illinois, Michael of Florida, and Billy Kimmell of Illinois; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 7 siblings, Clara Pettis of Colorado Spring,CO, Joanne Benson of Neillsville, Gene (Betty) Hehl of Poynette, Bernice (Charles)Northrup of Greenwood, Wesley “Butch” Jones of Fairchild, Willard “Bud” Jones of Altoona, Darlene (Alan) Rakovec of Loyal; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Angela Jones; and sister Betty Jane Kauten.
A visitation will be held Wed. Oct. 18, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Augusta. Memorial services will be held Wed. at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Dale Hazard officiating.
