LeRoy Jakubowski
LeRoy K. Jakubowski, 68, of Fall Creek, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at the Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home in hospice care.
LeRoy, son of Joseph and Mary (Novak) Jakubowski was born Feb. 11, 1948 in Chicago. As a child he was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith, attended school in Chicago and graduated from Harrison High School in 1966. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served proudly during the Vietnam era on the USS Enterprise. While in the service he was united in marriage to Diana Gayle Farr on Nov. 25, 1967 in Fremont, CA. To this union their 3 sons were born. LeRoy had lived in California and Washington before moving back to Chicago. While in Chicago he met and married Cathleen Shook in 1977, and to this union he was blessed with 2 daughters. In 1979 he moved to Wisconsin. While in Chicago, LeRoy had worked as a machinist, he had worked many years at Bush Brothers Canning Company in Augusta, and before retiring in 2001 he was working at W.L. Gore Manufacturing in Eau Claire. After his retirement he moved to Missouri to be near his sons and eventually returned to Wisconsin in 2006. LeRoy taught himself to play the guitar and often played it for his own enjoyment. He was also interested in any type of electronics and never hesitated fixing anything. Through the years he became very interested in Native American customs and enjoyed his involvement with the Ho-Chunk Nation. He also enjoyed the times he spent with the Spokesmen Motorcycle Club in Augusta.
LeRoy will be dearly missed by his 3 sons, LeRoy (Kim) Jakubowski, Wesley (Cherlyn) Jakubowski, Walter (Tiffany) Jakubowski all of Kansas City, MO; 2 daughters, Patricia Stanton (Jason Kiesow) of Fall Creek, Lisa (Erik) Martin of Augusta; step-son, Robert (Savanna) Bounds of Neillsville, step-daughter, Tina (Greg) Boettcher of Augusta; 21 grandchildren, Nicholas, Etan, Jade, Alyssa, Autumn, Jena, James, Michelle, Alayna, McKenna, Teya, Tristen, Faith, Colton, Darcie, Ireland, Morgan, Robert Jr., Taylor, James and Danyiel; 2 brothers, Joseph (Clair) Jakubowski of Berwyn, IL, Raymond (Alice) Jakubowski of Forest View, IL; brother-in-law, John Rocha of Augusta; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Rocha and step-son, John Stephan. A time to remember and celebrate LeRoy’s life will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers from Sacred Heart Hospital, the Cancer Center, Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home and St. Joseph’s Hospice for the wonderful attention shown to LeRoy during this time.
