Doris Zank
Doris T. Zank, 100, life long resident of Augusta, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 22, 2016 at the Augusta Area Nursing Home.

Doris was born March 16, 1916 in the Kirkham Valley area of rural Augusta. She was one of 8 children born to Wallace and Elsie (Kelly) Kirkham. Doris was raised in Kirkham Valley, attended Kirkham Valley Country School and graduated from Augusta High School in 1934 as the Valedictorian of her class. Doris was united in marriage to Alton Victor Zank on Sept. 25, 1940 in Augusta. The couple lived all their married life in the city of Augusta, where they raised their4 children. Doris was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Augusta, where she enjoyed her involvement with their ladies fellowship group and she had also been a member of the Kirkham Valley Ever Ready Homemakers Club. Earlier in her life she had worked at the Red Owl grocery store and the Augusta Area Nursing Home. Doris enjoyed many years of crafting and sewing, and everything she attempted was very well done. There were very few Fridays that she didn’t make a batch of donuts for family and friends. Doris enjoyed her life, and by living to 100 she had the opportunity to spend many hours with her immediate and extended family who all meant the world to her. She enjoyed her past 10 years at the Augusta Area Nursing Home and cherished her nursing home family of residents and staff. The Zank family wishes to thank everyone at the home that brighten and fulfilled her life these past years.
